An Atmore woman was arrested Oct. 5 on possession charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Tawakia Rolin, 45, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 12:10 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer was driving through the parking lot of Southland Hotel when he observed a suspicious female, later identified as Rolin, standing next to a vehicle.

“The officer checked Rolin’s identification and discovered Rolin had an outstanding felony warrant for failure to appear through the Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriffs Office,” McMann said. “Rolin was also in possession of approximately 1 gram of synthetic cannabis (spice) and items used to ingest narcotics.”

She was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
