Atmore man arrested on possession of drug charges Oct. 10

An Atmore man was arrested Oct. 10 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Adam Countryman, 41, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 5:15 p.m. Thursday, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to the occupants of the vehicle not wearing their seat belts.

“During the officer’s interaction with the occupants the officer observed suspicious behavior and was given consent to search the vehicle,” McMann said. “The officer discovered over 15 grams of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine and other items typically used to contain narcotics.”

Countryman was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
