An Atmore man was arrested on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Christion Watson, 24, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Oct. 11, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 21 when he observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel. The officer then made contact with the driver, Watson.
“During the interaction with Watson and the passenger of the vehicle, the officer discovered that the passenger had outstanding misdemeanor warrants with the Summerdale Police Department and with the Atmore Police Department,” McMann said. “The passenger was detained and a K-9 officer responded to the scene and alerted on the vehicle.”
McMann added that the officer discovered several grams of synthetic cannabis (spice), a small amount fentanyl and items used to ingest narcotics.
Watson was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton. The passenger was transported to the Atmore Municipal Jail.
