The woman allegedly head butted an APD officer
A Biloxi, Miss. woman was arrested Oct. 15 on possession, assault and public intoxication charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Ciara Bankester, 29, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of assault III and public intoxication.
McMann said on Oct. 15 at approximately 6:20 a.m., APD officers responded to Atmore Community Hospital in reference to an intoxicated person that had been transported by ambulance to the emergency room due to her irrational and irate behavior.
McMann said Bankester then ran from the hospital before officers arrived on the scene.
“One of the responding officers contacted Bankester a short distance away and contacted her,” McMann said. “Bankester was delusional, irate and didn’t know where she was. The officer detained Bankester for public intoxication and transported her back to the hospital to be evaluated and treated.”
McMann said upon arriving at the hospital, Bankester allegedly kicked the emergency room doors multiple times and then allegedly kicked the officer as he was escorting her inside.
“Bankester, while thrashing around and emergency room staff were attempting to restrain her, head butted a second officer,” he said. “An officer searched her purse and discovered a vape that had some type of residue inside. A field test of the residue was positive for cathinones or otherwise known as bath salts. Bankester was evaluated and treated and released from the hospital.”
She was then placed under arrest.
Bankester was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
