An Atmore man was arrested Oct. 24 on a possession of drug charge, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Tarvarsa Wiggins, 34, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
McMann said at approximately 5:30 a.m. on the day of arrest, an APD officer on routine patrol observed a person, later identified as Wiggins, stumbling as he walked along East Ridgeley Street.
“The officer stopped to check on Wiggins, and discovered that Wiggins had an active misdemeanor warrant with the APD,” McMann said. “The warrant was for failure to appear in reference to a theft of property IV arrest.”
McMann said Wiggins was then placed under arrest, and during a search incident to the arrest, the officer discovered Wiggins was in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine.
Wiggins was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
