An Atmore man was arrested Nov. 9 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Tywon Dixon, 30, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 7:45 p.m. on the day of arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Martin Luther King Avenue in reference to a vehicle with faulty lighting.
McMann said the officer made contact with the driver, later identified as Dixon.
“During the officer’s interaction with Dixon, the officer noted a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” he said. “Officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and discovered over 6 dozen (12) grams of marijuana and other items that are used in the storage of narcotics.”
Dixon was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
