Barnsville, Ga. man arrested for possession of drugs Nov. 3

A Barnsville, Ga. man was arrested Nov. 3 on possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that William High, 50, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana II.

McMann said at approximately 6:35 p.m. on the day of arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 21 in reference to a vehicle being operated with faulty lighting.

“The officer contacted the driver, later identified as William High, age 50, of Barnsville, Ga.,” McMann said. “During the interaction with High, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.”

McMann said during the search of the vehicle, the officer discovered a small amount of marijuana, several alprazolam pills and other items used to ingest narcotics.

High was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
