A Red Springs, N.C. man was arrested Nov. 11 on rape and sodomy charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Omar Pena, 48, was arrested and charged with rape I and sodomy I.

McMann said APD officers responded to Southland Motel on East Nashville Avenue in reference to a sexual assault at approximately 10:35 p.m. the day of the arrest.

McMann said during the investigation, officers were able to make contact with Pena.

Pena was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton
