An Atmore man was arrested Nov. 17 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Michael Duncan, 51, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 11:25 a.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying an expired tag on Rockaway Creek Road. The officer then made contact with the driver, Duncan.

“The officer checked Duncan’s identification and discovered that Duncan was wanted for an outstanding felony warrant from an agency in Tennessee,” McMann said. “While searching Duncan, the officer discovered a hypodermic needle with methamphetamine residue.”

Duncan was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
