UPDATE: APD releases names of victims in shooting

The Atmore Police Department is investigating the shooting of two people at a vacant residence in the 100 block of East Ashley Street.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that on Dec. 8 at approximately 8:15 p.m., APD officers responded to a vacant residence on East Ashley Street in reference to a person shot.

“When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered two people sitting in a vehicle that had been shot multiple times,” McMann said. “They both passed away due to their injuries.”

McMann said in a release the victims are Juwan McNeal, 25, of Atmore, and Joe Jones Jr., 27, also of Atmore.

McMann said investigators processed the scene, interviewed citizens in the area and collected evidence.

The investigation in ongoing, he said.
