Atmore man arrested Dec. 8 on domestic violence, drug charges

An Atmore man was arrested on domestic violence and drug charges on Dec. 8, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Makhail Reynolds, 37, was arrested and charged with domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 5:50 a.m. on Dc. 8, APD officers responded to 117 Rosie Dr., in reference to the complainant request a welfare check on their family member in reference to a possible domestic violence incident.

McMann said the officers observed the victim had sustained injuries, and learned that the suspect, Reynolds, was in the area.

McMann said officers located and detained Reynolds, and during a search of Reynolds, officers discovered he was in possession of over 5 grams of synthetic cannabis (spice), over 5 grams of a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine and items used to ingest narcotics.

Reynolds was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
