Walnut Hill, Fla. man arrested on drug, theft charges Dec. 8

A Walnut Hill, Fla. man was arrested on drug and theft charges Dec. 8, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Rodney Showers, 54, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft of property IV.

McMann said at approximately 5:25 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers were at Walmart on another call when the observed Walmart Loss Prevention make contact with Showers.

“Showers was observed (allegedly) shoplifting by loss prevention,” McMann said. “The officers assisted loss prevention with recovering the stolen merchandise.”

McMann said while searching Shower, officers discovered a small amount of crack cocaine, and a glass pipe with crack cocaine residue.

Showers was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
