An Atmore man was arrested Dec. 22 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Deontra French, 33, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 12:05 Sunday morning, APD officers responded to the 100 block of Lakeview Circle in reference to someone appearing to be under the influence of narcotics. The officers arrived and made contact with French.
“During the officer’s interaction with French, they noted he was speaking incoherently and was confused,” McMann said. “During the course of the investigation, the officers discovered French was in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and synthetic cannabis (spice) as well as items used to ingest narcotics.”
French was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
