Other charges pending from another incident
A Flomaton man was arrested on possession of drug and attempting to elude charges by the Atmore Police Department, and other charges are pending from an incident in Canoe and Wawbeek by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
APD Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said Hunter Leino, 25, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.
McMann said the drug arrest came on Dec. 23, when APD officers responded to a residence in Canoe to assist a deputy with the ECSO at approximately 3:25 p.m.
“The deputy was investigating a domestic violence incident and had identified Hunter Leino, age 25, of Flomaton, as the offender,” McMann said. “Leino also had multiple active misdemeanor warrants with the Atmore Police Department.”
McMann said an Atmore police investigator in an unmarked vehicle observed Leino as he was walking along Highway 31 in the Wawbeek area.
“Leino fled on foot when officers in marked vehicles started approaching him,” he said.
McMann said during the course of the pursuit, Leino entered a residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
“While searching Leino, an officer discovered a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue in his pocket,” McMann said.
McMann said charges are pending from the original incident in Canoe, and the burglary in Wawbeek with the ECSO.
He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
