A Flomaton man was arrested Jan. 1 on driving under the influence, attempting to elude and drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Andrew Parker, 25, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and attempting to elude a police officer.
McMann said at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, APD officers received a be-on-the-lookout call of a reckless driver coming toward Atmore on Highway 31 from Flomaton.
“Responding officers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop,” McMann said. “The driver, later identified as Andrew Parker, age 25, of Atmore, refused to stop. After a brief pursuit, Parker stopped and was taken into custody.”
McMann said that officers noted that Parker appeared to be under the influence.
“Officers conducted a field sobriety test that Parker failed,” he said. “During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered a small amount of synthetic cannabis (spice).”
Parker was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
