Cold weather advisory in effect for Atmore area from 12 a.m. until 9 a.m. Jan. 8

A cold weather advisory is in effect for the Atmore area from midnight until 9 a.m. on Jan. 8, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory is for Escambia (Ala. and Fla.) inland and coastal, among other portions of the state, including sout central and southwest Alabama, northwest Florida and southeast Mississippi.
Cold wind chills as low as 17 are expected, NWS officials said.
According to NWS officials, wind chills below 25 degrees can be hazardous with long exposure to humans and animals.
The low tonight is forecasted to be 26 degrees. The high on Wednesday is slated to be 47 degrees with a low of 25.
Then on Thursday, the rain chance increases from 20-60 percent with a low of 35 degrees and a high of 48.
The high for Friday is at 50 degrees with a 90 percdent chance of rain. The low Friday night is 35 degrees.
