There is low confidence of a threat of wintry mix late Thursday evening into Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold weather advisory expired at 9 this morning, but NWS forecasters said they are continuing to see a low-end threat of a wintry mix from last tonight into early Friday morning.
NWS officials said at this point, if any, impacts would likely be minor.
According to the NWS, the far nothern third of the forecast area would be impacted, if at all, roughly along and north of Waynesboro, Grove Hill and to the Luverne line.
Escambia County EMA Director David Adams said the current forecast for wintry mix is for the portion of the forecast area north of the county.
“However, only a small shift to the south of the weather system could shift the wintry precipitation mix into our area,” Adams said. “The threat is small, but it warrants everyone being a little extra cautious on their Friday morning commute. If we do see some of the wintry precipitation, pay extra attention to bridges, as they can freeze before the road surface.”
