McMann said officers then contacted a female in one of the motel rooms who explained that she and her boyfriend, Bowen, got into an argument.

“When he walked outside she locked the door behind him,” McMann said. “Bowen began screaming while banging on her door. Bowen left the area before officers arrived on the scene.”

McMann said an officer returned at approximately 8:35 p.m. when Bowen came back to the room.

“One of the responding officers observed Bowen behind the hotel,” he said. “Bowen fled on foot into the woods when he observed the officers approaching him. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.”

McMann said in a search of Bowen’s person incident to arrest, the officer discovered a small amount of methamphetamine and a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue.

Bowen was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
