An Atmore man and woman were arrested Jan. 13 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. McMann said in a release that an APD officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Martin Luther King at approximately 2:55 p.m. on the day of the arrest. James operated the vehicle, and the officer knew the driver had three active misdemeanor warrants with the department.
“Upon taking James into custody, the officer noticed a large amount synthetic cannabis (spice) covering the drivers seat,” McMann said. “The officers conducted a probable cause search and discovered additional spice, methamphetamine, marijuana and items used to ingest narcotics.”
McMann said officers requested a female officer respond to the scene to search the passenger (Jones).
“Jones had Spice in her possession and was arrested,” he said.
