Flomaton man arrested Jan. 15 on drug trafficking, possession charges

A Flomaton man was arrested Jan. 15 on drug trafficking and possession charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Michael Depew, 49, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street in reference to a traffic violation.

“During the officers interaction with the driver, who was later identified as Depew, the officer noted suspicious behavior and asked Depew if he could search the vehicle. Depew gave consent,” McMann said. “During the search of the vehicle, the officer discovered over two dozen grams of methamphetamine and items used to package narcotics.”

Depew was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
