Escambia County, Ala. and Fla. are under an extreme cold watch Sunday night through Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the NWS’s 6:01 a.m. weather forecast, dangerous low wind chills are expected late Sunday through Monday morning. Wind chill drops will dip into the sing digits early Monday morning.
Impacts include frostbite and hypothermia.
According to the NWS, there are two wintry weather scenarios:
• If the low tracks closer to the coast, then the coastal counties may see a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Snow is forecasted mostly for inland areas.
• If the low tracks further south in the Gulf, then most all areas will see snow. There would still be a small potential of a wintry mix along the immediate coast.
