Schools to remain closed Thursday due to hazardous road conditions

Local officials announced Wednesday that school will remain closed for Thurs., Jan. 23, due to hazardous road conditions.
Escambia County (Ala.) School System and Escambia Academy officials made the announcement via their Facebook pages this morning.
All athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Wednesday and Thursday, ECSS officials said.
“The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority,” ECSS officials said. “Please stay safe, stay warm. Enjoy the snow. See you Friday when classes resume.”
EA officials said local officials are concerned that roads will refreeze tonight due to the amount of snow accumulations.
“As always, the safety of our students is our first priority,” EA officials said.
According to reports, some 6 inches of snow fell in the Atmore area on Tuesday.

Per Coastal Alabama Community College officials: All campuses of Coastal Alabama Community College will remain closed on Thursday, January 23, 2025, due to weather and road conditions.

Operations will resume as scheduled on Friday, January 24
