Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Randy Weeks, 42, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 11:50 a.m. Monday, APD officers responded to Ramey’s grocery store parking lot in reference to a citizen noticing someone in the trunk of a vehicle.

“When officers arrived on the scene, they contacted the vehicle owner who was uncooperative,” McMann said. “The officers also observed narcotics in plain view of the vehicle.”

McMann added that just before the officers began a probable cause search of the vehicle, the person in the trunk pushed the back seat down and began crawling out of the trunk. Weeks was then taken into custody without further incident.

McMann said the search of the vehicle revealed several grams of methamphetamine, kratom, clonazepam, alprazolam and items used to ingest narcotics.

Weeks was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
