Escambia County School System officials announced today that schools will remain closed on Fri., Jan. 24 due to concerns about road conditions, transportation safety and building assessments, according to the system’s Facebook page.
“In addition, all athletic events and extracurricular activities scheduled for Friday are canceled,” ECSS officials said. “The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority, and we believe this decision is in the best interest of our community, especially with uncertain road conditions impacting buses and other transportation.”
Tonight’s low in the Atmore area is slated to be 19 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The high on Friday is 47 degrees with a low of 19.
