A Huntsville woman was arrested Jan. 19 on possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Sharie Congo, 47, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 7:20 p.m. Sunday, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 31 in reference to the vehicle’s taillights not working. The officer then contacted Congo, the driver.
“During the officer’s interaction with Congo, the officer observed signs that Congo seemed to be under the influence,” McMann said. “The officer requested a K-9 officer respond to the scene. Once on scene, the K-9 alerted on the vehicle.”
McMann said the officer conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, and discovered over 2 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and items used to ingest narcotics.
Congo was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
