McGhee spoke a little bit about his much his faith means to him, and how it will guide his steps in his new role as the fire chief.

“Chris is not righteous by no means, but I’ve been made righteous by the blood of Jesus,” he said. “I think Him for the opportunity to lead this department.”

McGhee then thanked his family and friends for their continued support.

During the pinning ceremony, McGhee’s family was present as they surrounded him.

McGhee was sworn in by Judge Joseph B. Brogden. His family surrounded him during the swearing in ceremony.

“What a celebration and accomplishment for Chris McGhee as he carries on for his father,” PCI Tribal Chair and CEO Stephanie Bryan said. “It’s our job as leaders to give the tools to succeed. This is a proud moment of us as the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.”

Bryan encouraged McGhee to look to God first.

“We must always give Him the praise and glory,” she said.

April Sells with the Tribal Emergency Services, said the PCI community is family, and that’s why they’re here to serve.

She then recognized the staff present for their contributions.
