A Perdido man was arrested Feb. 5 on driving under the influence charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Mark Fullerton, 65, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after failing a standard field sobriety test.
McMann said at approximately 11 a.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD investigator was approached by a citizen at a local store.
“The citizen told the investigator he had just been threatened by someone, and pointed to the vehicle the person was leaving the property in,” McMann said. “The investigator conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 900 block of East Nashville Avenue and contacted the driver (Fullerton). During the investigator’s interaction with Fullerton, he noted a strong odor of alcohol about Fullerton’s breath and had difficulty following directions. Fullerton also had a shotgun in the passenger seat.”
McMann said upon checking Fullerton’s criminal history, he was also charged as a certain person forbidden to possess a firearm due to a prior domestic violence conviction. Officers seized three firearms that Fullerton had in his vehicle.
He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
