The charges against a Fountain Correctional Facility employee accused of attempting to smuggle narcotics and contraband into the facility were dismissed today during a preliminary hearing in the Escambia County Courthouse, officials confirmed Monday.
The charges were dismissed for Vincent Bishop because the state didn’t present any evidence, officials said.
According to Advance archives, Bishop was arrested and charged with drug trafficking (flakka), possession of marijuana I, attempting to commit a controlled substance crime, prohibited activities (cell phones in a correctional facility) and attempting to promote prison contraband I.
Bishop was a drug treatment counselor at Fountain, and was placed on mandatory leave.
Bishop also serves as pastor of Destiny Worship Center.
