Escambia County’s Lady Blue Devils fell 72-34 to St. Michael in the Class 4A South Sub Regional on Feb. 7 in Fairhope.
Lady Blue Devils basketball coach Devon Robinson said overall, he’s quite satisfied with his group of girls.
“They’re young, they’re talented and smart,” Robinson said. “They still have a lot of room to grow. Last Friday night, we had a little bit of pressure on us. That was the first time they’ve been in an elimination game in years.
“They’ll be back next year,” he said.
Robinson said next year, everyone from this year’s squad will be returning to the hardwood.
“We only have one senior, and most of them area in ninth grade or are 10th graders,” he said. “That group will be together for the next few years. They have time to build chemistry and play together.”
Robinson said one takeaway he took from Friday’s game is the girls’ heart.
“Even though it didn’t go as planned, and how the scoreboard was, they didn’t give up,” he said. “That’s a testimony as to what kind of team we had.”
ECHS finished its season 12-7.
