A Fresno, Calif. man and woman were arrested Feb. 19 on possession of drug and fugitive from justice charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Hollis Priest, 44, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; and Nicole Jensen, 54, was arrested and charged with fugitive from justice, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 7:45 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on South Main Street in reference to a vehicle being driven with its headlights off.
“The officer contacted the driver, who was later identified as Priest,” McMann said. “While the officer was speaking with Priest he noted strange behavior and requested consent to search the vehicle.”
McMann said the officer then contacted the passenger in the vehicle who gave the officers a false name and date of birth.
“The officers were able to identify her as Jensen,” he said. “Jensen had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from another jurisdiction and was detained.”
McMann said during the search of the vehicle, the officers discovered a small amount of cocaine, several grams of methamphetamine and several items that are commonly used to ingest narcotics.
Both were then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
