An Atmore man was arrested Feb. 23 on possession of drug and tampering with physical evidence charges on Col. Farris Drive, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said Anthony English, 27, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
McMann said at approximately 9:45 p.m. Sunday, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Colonel Farris Drive in reference to the vehicle not having the taillights illuminated.
“Before the vehicle came to a stop, the officer observed a passenger throw an object from the vehicle,” McMann said.
McMann said the officer then made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, including the passenger in question who was later identified as English.
“The object was recovered by a K-9,” McMann said. “The object was a plastic baggie containing several dozen grams of marijuana and xanax.”
English was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
