ECHS holds Black History Month program Feb. 28

Escambia County High School held its annual Black History Month Program Feb. 28 in the school auditorium.

This year’s theme was “Stepping in Our Roots,” and the program, which was student led, honored and remembered black pioneers and visionaries, including Harriet Tubman, Dr. Martin Luther King, Katherine Johnson, Dr. Maya Angelou, Malcolm X, W.E.B. Dubois and Mrs. Dubois.

Throughout the program, the ECHS choir and band played selections, the step team performed Stepping in Our Roots, a fashion show was held and a poem read.
