Northview baseball, softball teams pick up wins over Escambia County, Tate, Fla. Thursday night

Northview’s baseball and softball squads picked up regular-season wins over Escambia County and Tate, Fla. on Thursday night, respectively.
The Chiefs shot out to a hot start against the Blue Devils and won 12-0 in five innings, while the Lady Chiefs beat Tate 6-1 after a strong sixth inning of play.
NHS 12, ECHS 0
Northview scored 12 runs in the first inning of the rout.
Brady Smith went 2-for-2 with two runs; Bryant Mason went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs; and Kelan Jury went 1-for-2 with a run to lead the Chiefs. Jase Portwood added two RBIs in the contest.
Jackson Bridges, Luke Chavers, Dane King, Jayden White and Bryant Mason had an RBI each for NHS.
On the mound, Portwood struck out six and allowed one hit in 3.0 innings of work. Bridges came on in relief, striking out six and allowing no runs and no hits in 2.0 innings.
Dallas Owens led ECHS with one hit.
NHS 6, Tate 1
In the top of the sixth, Northview’s Avery Stuckey hit a three-run double, and Aubrey Hadley hit an RBI single.
Jamison Gilman earned the win on the mound, allowing three hits and one run in 4.0 innings. She struck out two, and walked none.
Mikayla McAnally allowed one hit in 3.0 innings in relief for the Lady Chiefs.
Stuckey went 1-for-4; and McAnally, Bailey Burkette and Kylee Langham had two hits each for NHS.
In other action earlier this week, Escambia Academy fell 13-3 to South Choctaw in baseball action.
