From the basketball court to the classroom, fifth-grader Saveion Johnson does it all. A true jack-of-all-trades, he balances his athleticism with a strong passion for academics. His love for sports doesn’t diminish his enthusiasm for math—in fact, his problem-solving skills have helped him excel at Rachel Patterson Elementary School in Atmore. Known for his leadership and kindness, Saveion’s teachers often praise his conduct and willingness to help those around him.
Johnson is an active and versatile fifth grader who immerses himself in various sports. Whether on the basketball court, playing football, or riding bikes with friends, Saveion thrives outdoors and relishes a good game. When it’s time to come inside, he continues to have fun playing video games. While some might see him as an average, constantly active young boy, Saveion also prioritizes keeping his mind engaged.
Saveion’s dedication to excellence has earned him several accolades, including recognition as a star student, consistent placement on the honor roll, and induction into both the National Elementary Honor Society and the National STEM Honor Society. Notably, he was among the inaugural group of fourth graders inducted into RPES’s first-ever National Elementary Honor Society class on March 8, 2024. Additionally, he was part of the 2022-23 National STEM Honor Society class inducted on April 27, 2023.
Behind Saveion’s achievements lies a strong support system. His aunt, LaQuandia Young, plays a pivotal role in his educational journey, routinely assisting with homework and encouraging him to envision a future that includes higher education. Her guidance and the unwavering support from his family and teachers have been instrumental in shaping Saveion’s aspirations and fostering his growth.
As he continues his educational journey, Saveion’s blend of athletic talent, academic prowess, and strong character positions him for a future filled with promise. With the steadfast support of his community, there is little doubt that he will continue to make his family, friends, and educators proud, while also achieving personal fulfillment.
