Montgomery man arrested March 4 on possession of drug charges

A Montgomery man was arrested March 4 on possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that William Pettie, 58, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said on Tuesday at approximately 10:50 a.m., an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 21 in reference to the driver failing to maintain the lane of travel. The officer then contacted the driver, Pettie.

“During the officer’s interaction with Pettie, he noted suspicious behavior and requested consent to search the vehicle,” McMann said. “During the search, the officer discovered a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue.”

Pettie was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
