Chiefs top Flomaton 4-2 Thursday night at home

Northview’s Jase Portwood allowed two earned runs on one hit and struck out six in 5.2 innings to help lead the Chiefs to a 4-2 victory over Flomaton tonight at home.

The Chiefs took its two-run lead in the third inning, and held onto it behind Portwood’s arm and infield and outfield play.

NHS took an early lead in the first inning on an RBI double from Bryant Mason.

Flomaton bounced right back in the following inning when Zach Hester hit a two-run double for a 2-1 advantage.

Jackson Bridges helped the Chiefs capture the lead on an RBI single, and an error scored two additional runs.

Bridges, Mason, Luke Chavers, Brady Smith and Grayden Sheffield had one hit each for the Chiefs.

Hester went 1-for-3 to lead FHS.

In softball action, the Lady Chiefs beat Baker, Fla. 12-0.
