Multiple rounds of severe storms are forecasted in the coming days in the Atmore area, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the NWS’s Thursday morning forecast, round one was expected this afternoon with hail and wind; round two is Friday night with hail, wind and tornado; and round three is Saturday for the main event.
There is a moderate risk of severe weather across most of the area on Saturday, NWS officials said.
According to forecasters, the main threats on Saturday are strong tornadoes, damaging winds up to 70 miles per hour and quarter size hail.
Isolated to severe storms are forecasted for Friday night possible for locations west of I-65, and there is no expectation of storms overnight, but anything can change, officials said.
On Saturday, conditions will go downhill as the day progresses, and isolated supercells are forecast to develop throughout the morning and afternoon hours. There is a moderate risk covering the Atmore area, and most of Escambia County, Ala. and the upper portion of Escambia County, Fla.
An update on the weather will be posted Friday morning.
