3 visitors at Fountain Correctional Facility arrested on contraband, drug charges

Three visitors at Fountain Correctional Facility were arrested on contraband and distribution of drug charges, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Public Information Manager Kelly Betts said the visitors were arrested March 15-16.

Betts said on March 15, during a scheduled visit at Fountain, ADOC K-9 officers observed visitor Leigh Culwell acting suspiciously.

“Upon investigation, they discovered and confiscated approximately 78 grams of synthetic narcotics, valued at approximately $3,900,” Betts said.

Culwell was arrested, transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton, and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, trafficking in synthetic narcotics and promoting prison contraband II.

Then, on March 16, ADOC correctional officers at Fountain noticed suspicious behavior by visitors Angela McLain and JaDiamond Bolden.

Betts said ADOC K9 officers responded, investigated and confiscated approximately 62 grams of synthetic cannabinoids, valued at approximately $3,100, and approximately 136 grams of marijuana, valued at approximately $2,700.

Betts said McLain and Bolden were arrested, transported to Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton, and charged with trafficking in synthetic cannabinoids, distribution of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana I and promoting prison contraband II.
