County BOE approves personnel recommendations during regular meeting March 20

The Escambia County Board of Education approved the following personnel recommendations during its regular meeting on March 20.
Resignation
- Doug Vickery Jr., as teacher at Flomaton High School, effective March 31, 2025;
- Jennie Salgado, as custodian at Huxford Elementary School, effective March 18;
- Patrice Fountain, as special education teacher at Rachel Pattesron Elementary School, effective March 7;
Employment
- Cindy Wilson, as assistant superintendent for ECBOE, effective April 21, replacing George Brown;
- Tommie Lewis, as physical education teacher at Escambia County High School, effective March 11, replacing Clarence Brooks;
- Melanie Renfroe, as seven-hour lunchroom worker at HES, effective March 21, replacing Emma Johnson;
- Jeffrey Scurlock, as bus driver at Brewton Bus Shop, effective March 21, replacing James D. Hiers;
Employment change
- Amy Bell, from kindergarten teacher at Pollard McCall Junior High School to academic interventionist at PMJHS, effective Aug. 1, replacing Traci Ward;
Contract renewal
- Leah Fuqua, as principal at HES, effective July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028;
- Perry Updike, as principal at W.S. Neal Middle School, effective July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028; and,
- Sabrina Wilson, as principal at Escambia Career Readiness Center, effective July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028.
Additionally, the board approved the expulsion for an Escambia County Middle School, W.S. Neal Middle School and W.S. Neal High School student for a period of one calendar year for violation of the Escambia County School System Board Policy/Student Code of Conduct. The superintendent will allow the students to receive educational services through the Escambia County Virtual School.
