An Atmore woman was arrested March 24 on a fugitive from justice charge, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Kayla Powers, 37, was arrested and charged as a fugitive from justice.
McMann said at approximately 8 a.m. Monday, Powers accompanied a friend to the APD in reference to a complaint. McMann added the officer then became aware that Powers was wanted by the New Orleans Police Department in reference to an outstanding arrest warrant for felony domestic assault.
McMann said she was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton to await extradition back to New Orleans.
