Jay, Fla. man arrested March 21 on possession, theft, providing false ID charges

A Jay, Fla. man was arrested March 21 on possession, theft and providing false identification to a law enforcement officer charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Kyle coleman, 34, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, theft of property IV and giving false identification to a law enforcement officer.

McMann said at approximately 2:20 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting complaint. He added that the suspect was detained by Walmart Loss Prevention Officers, and transported to the Atmore Municipal Jail.

“While processing the suspect, the officer discovered he was in possession of a THC vape pen,” McMann said. “The subject was charged with possession of a controlled substance and theft of property IV. He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center (in Brewton).”

McMann said while the subject was being processed at the detention center, the corrections officer discovered that the subject provided the arresting officer a false name.
