A Milton, Fla. woman was arrested March 20 on possession of drug and theft charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Kristi Spears, 54, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft of property IV.
McMann said the arrest stemmed after APD officers responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting complaint on March 20 at approximately 3 p.m.
“The suspects had been detained by Walmart Loss Prevention officers,” McMann said. “During the interaction with the suspects, the officers discovered the suspects had a vehicle waiting in the parking lot.”
McMann said the vehicle was located and consent to search was granted to the officers.
“During a search of the vehicle the officers discovered a small amount of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and items that are used to ingest narcotics,” McMann said.
Spears was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
