An Atmore man was taken into custody March 25 on a theft warrant and a revoked probation, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Porter Allmon, 37, was taken into custody on Tuesday.
The arrest stemmed from prior alleged incidents with Allmon.
“On March 19, 2025, Atmore police officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious person knocking on the front door of a residence in the 200 block of 9th Avenue,” McMann said. “Officers detained a white male, later identified as Porter Allmon, age 37, of Atmore, as he was walking away from the residence. The officers conducted a field interview and released him.”
McMann said then on March 22, APD responded to Rameys in reference to a suspicious white male shoplifting in the store and allegedly attempting to huff fumes from a whipped cream container to get high.
The store at the time didn’t wish to press charges, but requested Allmon be trespassed from the store, he added.
McMann said on March 24, a citizen posted a video on social media of a white male who was standing on the homeowner’s porch in the early morning hours shining a light into the Ring camera.
“The homeowner asked him to leave through the camera and he complied,” he said. “The homeowner didn’t call the police. However, after an officer viewed the video, he recognized the subject as Allmon and contacted the homeowner.”
Additionally, another citizen made a post on social media during the same time frame in reference to an attempted burglary, but didn’t contact the police. The same officer contacted the homeowner who filed a report and that incident is currently under investigation, McMann said.
McMann said the officer discovered that Allmon was on unsupervised probation after pleading guilty to a domestic violence charge on March 5, 2025, and contacted the store manager at Rameys to determine if they wished to pursue a charge of theft of property IV. A warrant for Allmon was issued and he was taken into custody on March 25, 2025.
The officer also contacted the Escambia County District Attorney’s Office. Allmon’s probation was revoked and he was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
