Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Alexis Biron, 31, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI.

McMann said on the day of the arrest at approximately 5:20 p.m., APD officers responded to the Dollar General in Canoe in reference to a female (Biron) passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the parking lot with the vehicle idling.

“The responding officer knocked on the window several times to check on Biron,” McMann said. “When she finally awakened, the officer asked her if she was OK. The officer noted she seemed to be under the influence and asked her to step out of the vehicle. When she exited the vehicle the officer observed narcotics in plain view.”

McMann said Biron was then detained and the officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.

“During the search of the vehicle the officers discovered a small amount of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine and other items used to ingest narcotics,” he said.

Biron was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
