Andalusia woman arrested March 31 on possession of drug charges

An Andalusia woman was arrested March 31 on possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Marcella Boartfield, 53, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said on Monday at approximately 1:50 a.m., an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 21 in reference to a vehicle driving without any taillights.

“The officer contacted the driver and noted suspicious behavior between the driver and the passenger (Boartfield),” McMann said. “A K-9 officer responded to the scene and deployed his K-9, which alerted on the vehicle.”

McMann said the officers then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, and discovered a glass pipe with a crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Boartfield was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
