Cantonment, Fla. man arrested March 31 on possession charges

A Cantonment, Fla. man was arrested March 31 on possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Joseph Neales, 49, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said on Monday at approximately 5:40 p.m., an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 21 in reference to the driver failing to use his seat belt. The officer then contacted the driver, Neales.

“During the officers interaction with Neales, the officer noted suspicious behavior and was given consent to search the vehicle,” McMann said. “During the search the officer discovered a small amount of methamphetamine and ecstasy as well as items used to ingest narcotics.”

Neales was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
