Students will show work in graphite, charcoal, and oil paint. Some students will show work in acrylics and mixed- media, as well as work made in the ceramic medium.

The show is free and is open to the public.

There will be a closing of the show held Tuesday April 29, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Museum Gallery, as well. The close of the show will also feature work from the community pottery class, in addition to the Spring show. Art scholarship recipients will be recognized at that time. After the official closing at 7 pm, the student artists will have the opportunity to pick up their work.

Art instructor Holly Lowery says the students are excited to present their work to the public. “The students have all done well these past two semesters. They worked hard in their drawing class in the fall and have really grown this semester in their oil painting class. We have some nice collages from the Art Appreciation students. I am looking forward to seeing “all smiles” as they present their work to family, friends, and to the community.”

Dennis Fuqua, Campus Director says, “I am always amazed at the talent our Brewton students put on display for our Campus Art Show. Ms. Lowery is such a treasure for us to have at the college and you will want to come out and view what she has taught and her students have completed. You can drive a long distance and not find another art show as good as what we will have to offer.”

Mrs. Lowery has completed her first full year at Coastal now and is pleased with the students and their progress. “We have a lot of great students here”, she says. “I am grateful for the opportunity to be their instructor and for the support from our wonderful administration and the Coastal family.” Lowery mentions though the semester is not quite over,  the students will have plenty of work to show. “They will have a lot of great work to show everyone. We plan to have the gallery walls filled!” She goes on to state:  “By holding a student art show, we are taking the time to pause… to really see their work and to celebrate their talents. It will be a treat for us all. This is the best part!”

Lowery says that she plans to add more studio courses in the Fall ’25 semester and Spring 26. “I will be offering a 2-Dimensional Design course in the Fall ’25 and 3-Dimensional Design in Spring ’26. Of course, our campus offers the Community Pottery Classes each semester. Registration will open soon for the summer pottery class. I will also offer a Drawing I and Drawing II course this summer on Tuesday nights, as well. We would love for anyone interested in enrolling in courses to come join us. If this is too busy of a season, please join us at the Spring Art Show!”

The opening event on April 15th will include light refreshments and a door prize/raffle drawing for a personal wheel throwing session on the potter’s wheel during the community class on April 29th. You must be present to win.
