A dream has come true for Titus Koehn.
Koehn, a Walnut Hill, Fla. native, has opened Southern Brew Thru, a drive thru coffee shop on Lindberg Avenue. The coffee shop is located where the old First National Bank and Trust south branch was located.
Koehn said the bank closed more than a year ago, and around September of 2024, the owners of Waves Car Wash bought the property.
“They approached me, and asked if I would be interested in putting a coffee shop here,” Koehn said. “They’d buy it, and then rent it out. Since September, we’ve been working to get it set up for the coffee shop.”
Koehn said the inside has been renovated, and new flooring installed.
Koehn said the name of the shop was something they came up with, adding there’s not really a back story regarding the name.
“It’s been a long time coming it feels like,” he said.
Southern Brew Thru’s menu includes classic coffee drinks hot or iced; signature drinks; non coffee items; and teas.
Koehn said they’re doing a soft opening today, and will be open the rest of the week. According to their Facebook page, the shop is open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. through Friday for barista training.
Regular hours of operation will be from 5:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday hours are yet to be determined, Koehn said.
“We’re really excited,” Koehn said. “It’s a little nerve racking, but now we’re excited to get it going and see how it’s going to work. We’re interested in seeing if people are going to like the drinks we have.”
Koehn is married to Kayla, and the couple has one child, Emma.
