Escambia County High School Senior Lebron Willis has been awarded a $6,000 Yates Companies Inc. Scholarship for the first two years of college, officials announced recently.

A scholarship committee at The Yates Companies based on academics, extracurricular activities and two short essays selected Willis.

“We set up the scholarship program to recognize and reward high school seniors of our employees who meet certain criteria, and wish to further education at the post-secondary level,” Yates Companies Scholarship Committee Chairperson Carolyn Voyles said. “This allows us to be a part of preparing young people for the future.”

Willis will graduate from ECHS this spring, and plans to major in business administration. He is the son of Eddie Kyles and Katrina Willis. Katrina works for Spectrum Resorts, which is a part of The Yates Companies Inc.
