An Atmore woman was arrested April 10 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Evelyn Elliott, 47, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 7:45 p.m. last Thursday, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Swift Mill Road in reference to a speeding violation. The officer then made contact with the driver, Elliott.
“During the officer’s interaction with Elliott, he noted suspicious behavior and requested consent to search the vehicle,” McMann said. “During the search of the vehicle the officer discovered several grams of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, and glass pipe that contained methamphetamine residue.”
Elliott was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
